How SLG Construction Improved Project Visibility and QA/QC Efficiency with Gsite

June 24.2026

A people-first digital transformation delivering faster approvals, stronger collaboration and 300% improvement in QA/QC efficiency

SLG Construction Sdn. Bhd. (“SLG Construction”) is a CIDB G7 contractor delivering residential, commercial, industrial and mixed-use developments across Malaysia.

As project complexity increased, SLG Construction recognised the need for a more scalable approach to managing project information, stakeholder collaboration and site operations. Disconnected communication channels, manual workflows and fragmented document management were making it increasingly difficult to maintain visibility, ensure accountability and support efficient project delivery.

To address these challenges, SLG Construction partnered with Glodon to implement Gsite as part of a broader initiative to modernise construction management and establish more connected digital workflows across the project lifecycle.

Key Results

  • 50% reduction in time spent retrieving project information
  • 30% faster submission review and approval cycles
  • 300% improvement in QA/QC process efficiency
  • 15,000+ project files centralised within a single platform
  • 570+ submissions managed digitally
  • 850+ inspections completed through mobile workflow

The Project

The transformation was first implemented at Arte Star – The Regal, a major high-rise residential development comprising:

  • SOHO units
  • Two 63-storey towers and one 64-storey tower, totalling 2,705 units
  • An 11-level podium car park and integrated facilities floor

Given the scale of the development and the number of stakeholders involved, the project provided an ideal environment to pilot a more integrated and digitally connected approach to project delivery.

The Operational Challenges Before Adopting Gsite

Prior to implementation, project information was distributed across email correspondence, local drives, WhatsApp groups and paper-based records. As project activity increased, teams faced growing challenges in maintaining visibility, coordinating approvals and managing quality processes efficiently.

Key challenges included:

Disorganized Information: Project documents, drawings and communications were stored across multiple disconnected platforms, making version control difficult and time-consuming.

Disconnected Workflows: Email-based approval process with consultants causes delayed responses. Manual consolidation of all RFIs and submission costs time and causes human errors, and urgent design changes result in rework.

Difficulty Tracking Progress: Project teams relied heavily on manual follow-ups to track status of RFIs, material approval, shop drawings, etc.

Ineffective QA/QC: Hard copy of form print out results in slow inspections and signoff, manually compiled defect list and NCRs cost tremendous time, and WhatsApp group chat to delegate sub’s tasks causes miscommunications.

The Solution

SLG Construction adopted Gsite to establish a centralised digital environment that connected project teams, workflows and information within a single platform.

Rather than focusing solely on technology deployment, the initiative followed a people-first approach that aligned processes, stakeholders and digital tools to support long-term adoption.

What we like about Gsite is— it’s simple, smart, and practical. We want a system go paperless that really works for everyone across the company. I think the biggest value is how Gsite helps us track projects better, make faster decisions, and use data to plan ahead with more clarity. That’s what gives us, and our clients, more confidence.”

— Mr. Soh, Deputy Project Director

Creating a Single Source of Truth

To improve information governance and accessibility, SLG Construction centralised project documentation and drawings within Gsite.

Implementation highlights included:

  • 2,300+ drawings centralised, including tender, construction and shop drawings
  • 250+ RFIs managed digitally
  • 15,000+ project files consolidated
  • 2,600+ folders imported using standardised templates
  • Automated notifications for document updates
  • Shared access established across project stakeholders

By creating a single source of truth, project teams gained greater visibility, improved document control and more efficient collaboration.

The real-time dashboard provides a centralised overview of project data and workflow status, giving teams greater visibility into RFIs, approvals and issue resolution across the project.

— Mr. Yeoh Keat Yih, Senior Project Manager

Streamlining Submission and Approval Workflows

SLG Construction also digitised consultant submission and approval processes, replacing fragmented email-based workflows with structured digital reviews and tracking.

As a result:

  • 570+ submissions were managed digitally
  • Average review duration decreased from 14 days to less than 10 days
  • Approval efficiency improved by 30%

Real-time visibility enabled project teams to identify bottlenecks earlier and proactively manage approval timelines.

Gsite provides a centralised platform that enables stakeholders to trace and access submission versions more efficiently. The permission settings also ensure contractors can review relevant documents at any time, significantly reducing fragmented communication.

— Ms. Nurul Zafirah, Digital Lead, Head Office

Digitising Site Operations and QA/QC

One of the most significant improvements came through the digitalisation of inspections, defect management and field reporting.

Using Gsite’s offline mobile application, site teams were able to complete inspections, record issues and manage quality processes directly from the field, even in areas with limited connectivity.

Key outcomes included:

  • 170+ standardised inspection templates established
  • 850+ inspections completed and signed off digitally
  • 470+ defects and CARs managed digitally
  • 1,000+ site diaries and 2,900+ site photos recorded within the platform
  • Automated report generation for faster reporting

These improvements contributed to a 300% increase in QA/QC process efficiency while strengthening accountability, traceability and audit readiness.

The platform provides stronger traceability, faster reporting and ensures project records are consistently documented and easily accessible for future reference.”

— Ms. Nor Fatin Fatihah, QA/QC Engineer

Driving Adoption Through a Phased Rollout

To minimise disruption and encourage long-term adoption, SLG Construction implemented Gsite through a phased rollout.

The programme began with core internal workflows such as document management, drawings and progress tracking before expanding to consultants, subcontractors and wider project stakeholders. This structured approach helped build confidence among users while creating consistency across project teams.

“SLG Construction’s success came from approaching digitalisation as a people-first transformation rather than simply deploying software. Their commitment to workflow standardisation, stakeholder engagement and continuous process improvement created a strong foundation for scalable long-term digital growth.

— Mr. Myke Ong, Project Lead, Strategic Partnership & Business Analyst, Glodon Malaysia

Looking Ahead

As construction projects continue to grow in complexity, SLG Construction’s experience demonstrates how connected digital workflows can improve visibility, strengthen collaboration and support more efficient project delivery.

By combining technology with standardised processes and strong stakeholder engagement, SLG Construction established a scalable digital foundation that supports smarter, more accountable and future-ready construction operations.

We sincerely appreciate Glodon’s support and partnership throughout the implementation of Gsite on this project. The platform has helped us digitalise workflows, strengthen communication and improve traceability across all stakeholders. This transformation supports our vision of delivering smarter, more efficient and future-ready projects.
